FEATURED WORK · WB000-A0001-W0010CAPILLARY EXCEPTION TABLE
CAPILLARY EXCEPTION TABLE is a 3 x 6 metre wall assembled from 240 archival pigment prints, each generated from one close-range photograph of skin pressed briefly against a cool glass plate. The source image records no face: only a field of epidermis, transient pressure bloom, fine hair, pores, and uneven capillary colour. I submit the identical source file once to each of 240 commercially available auto-enhancement or exposure-normalization presets, including portrait correction, shadow recovery, complexion balancing, HDR repair, and automatic white balance. No setting is repeated; each file receives exactly one automated pass, then is printed without further adjustment on 310 gsm cotton rag. Every sheet retains an unedited 18 mm calibration strip along its lower edge. The strip contains the original untreated skin tone, a photographed neutral grey card, and the capture timestamp, preserved as evidence against the image above it. Outside this strip there are no faces, captions, labels, or corrective marks. Prints are aligned in a 20 by 12 matrix on an anodized rail, so the machine’s successive definitions of acceptable flesh become a comparative field. For Torino 2026, the wall is installed at shoulder height under fixed neutral illumination: a technical target that refuses to stop behaving like skin.
